Message from the President to Applying Students

President of Tokyo International University Tsugio Tajiri

Tokyo International University (TIU), founded in 1965, is approaching its 50th anniversary.
High ideals, strength, and spirit have guided TIU through these decades, to create with vigor an education which produces ‘true world citizens.’ With respect to this tradition,
and along with staff and a faculty, I pledge my whole strength to adapting it to the 21st century needs of ‘revolution and creation.’

The quality guarantee of the TIU education system, in which nearly 6,000
students belong to small sized seminar courses, exists in the close and
warm contact students have with their professors. This achieves a fusion
of ‘specialized and general knowledge’ and ‘high sociality and humanity.’

TIU’s founder, Kaneko Taizo, stated “The education I wish to provide
must create talented internationalists who are able to bridge the gap
between Japan and the world.” Mr. Kaneko’s vision thrives on the five
TIU campuses. For these campuses, located in both Japan and the USA, I
will further strengthen international programs. I will expand
educational opportunities which stress personal experience and allow
students to make direct contributions to the various workplaces and
cultures of their hosting nations. I will promote a “2015 TIU Brand
Internationalization Strategy” that advances more and more independent,
resilient, and intelligent young people to human society.

I invite you to visit any of our campuses, where each day students from
more than 20 nations gather. Though their cultures differ, their
pursuits are symbiotic; to together in their youth lay the groundwork
for a life of rich humanistic sensitivity and strong academic learning.
These students will grow into individuals able to walk throughout the
world with neither flag nor fail. Wherever needed, whenever needed, in
the role of a pro coach the TIU faculty, staff, and I promise to walk
with them.
