Tokyo International University believes strongly in international exchange. Not only do we send our students to study in many countries around the world but also we hold programs such as the Japan Studies Program to enable people of other nationalities to begin to understand life in Japan. We know that the cost of study in Japan would be prohibitive to most international students, so in order for the Japan Studies Program to be able to offer the variety of courses and events that we do, tuition fees listed above have been heavily subsidized by Tokyo International University. |

All costs must be paid in Japanese Yen (excluding the US$50 Application Fee). |
| 3. |
Listed costs are subject to change up to the application deadline for each semester. |
| 4. |
Students are responsible for all bank processing fees in home country and in Japan. |
| 5. |
The Application Fee is not refundable even if students are not accepted into the program and it is not applied toward costs. |
| 6. |
Each student is responsible for his or her own travel expenses to and from Japan. |
| 7. |
A student is required to pay 80,000 yen on or before the First Payment Date (see Dates) after being accepted into the program. This payment will be applied toward program costs, but will not be refunded in the case of cancellation. |
| 8. |
Students will be charged for the Optional Excursion (100,000 yen) each semester unless specified otherwise by the student. Payment for the Optional Excursion is due by the final payment deadline for each semester. Once paid, students cannot later cancel during the semester and receive a reimbursement. |
| 9. |
Miscellaneous spending will vary depending on each student's spending habits and lifestyle. Miscellaneous expenses include lunches during the week, eating out, personal transportation costs to Tokyo and around Japan, personal living expenses (toiletries, clothing etc.), and entertainment. 150,000 yen is the MINIMUM recommended amount to bring for miscellaneous expenses. If you plan to go to Tokyo often and/or travel to different areas of Japan, you will surely need more funds. We recommend bringing money in the form of traveler's checks. |

Students who participate in two consecutive semesters are responsible for all individual expenses between the two semesters including lodging, food and travel expenses. Students will NOT be able to stay with their host families during the time between the two semesters. |
| 11. |
If the student is not present for meals, those meals will be forfeited and can not be taken at a later date. Meals included are breakfast and dinner on weekdays and breakfast, lunch and dinner on the weekends. |
| 12. |
If a student does not live with a host family selected by the JSP program they may have to pay their own transportation fees. |
| 13. |
As the JSP program is subsidized by Tokyo International University, students will not be reimbursed for any missed field trips, events or other parts of the program. |
