This semester in Japan has honestly been the best one in my life, and my only regret is any hesitation I might have had before going. And I couldn't have done it without JSP. Not only did JSP offer great classes, they also found the perfect host family for me. All the classes were 3 hours long but went by so fast because they were so interesting. Having no previous knowledge of Japanese language beforehand, over one semester, I learned not only how to speak Japanese, but also much about the Japanese way of life and their politics, history, and mentality. Thank you JSP!

Tokyo may have some of the best nightlife in the world, but to be honest, the most fun I ever had was with my Japanese host family. To come home and be greeted with "Okaeri!" and talk about the day, play with my host sisters, and eat dinner as a family gave me an indescribably good feeling. As my speaking ability improved, I could talk with my host parents about Japanese customs and social issues as well as more personal subjects of childhood and relationships. I also enjoyed the many long conversations I had with my Japanese friends, and in this way I have learned more about Japanese culture than I could have ever learned in a class. The ability to communicate my feelings and opinions in Japanese has been by far the most rewarding aspect of my language study. Through these conversations I grew closer to many of my Japanese friends as well as my host family.

JSP is amazing. The language professors teach the material better than any teacher I had in the U.S. Additionally, there is nothing quite like the happiness of going home and using the sentence patterns you learned that day. It really makes you feel like you are absorbing the information rather than just remembering for some test. The staff does its absolute best to make you fit in and show you Japan. I couldn't have asked for more in my study abroad experience. Compared to my friends' in programs at other schools who are frustrated and feel alone because a disconnected program, TIU's JSP program brings people together from all over the world because we all have one goal ? to improve our language skills. With JSP, you do that as well as gain memories to last a lifetime.

JSP is a fantastic experience! It has made me completely reevaluate my life back home. Living in Japan got me totally out of my comfort zone, and as a result I have grown and changed and learn things about myself that I never knew before. I made tons of friends, and I'm not usually the type of person who is good at that sort of thing. I learned the language much quicker than I thought I would, and I even got the hang of Kanji, which was my most difficult subject before. JSP is a fantastic environment in which to learn and have fun too. Everyone should have an experience like JSP!
