Japanese Peer Assistants are one of the main links between JSP participants and their new environment both on and off campus. Peer Assistants (PAs), hired TIU students, help give JSP participants the information and recourses needed to interact with Japanese students, explore the local community and the Tokyo metropolitan area. PAs are also key in helping JSP students understand Japanese language and culture. Guaranteed to become close friends of JSP students, PAs give students the assistance needed to function independently in their new surroundings.
|
| Peer Assistants offer many additional chances to socialize and see new things. PAs are not only the main force in orientating students upon arrival, they also plan many optional trips and activities in the evenings and on weekends throughout the semester for those who are looking for something to do. Often impromptu, students will never be bored with the PAs introducing different things to do such as trips to local events and activities or just a night on the town ending with KARAOKE. Japanese students are encouraged to join too, making all activities opportunities to make new friends, learn something new about the culture, and speak Japanese. |
