Maho's Answers!!!
1."Halloween" means the eve of "All Saints' Day". It's on Oct 31,so around just now, I can see many nice decorations for Halloween in Salem. On this day, the children wear strange dresses and visit neighbors homes to get some candy or cookies. Then they will say
"trick or treat"
2.I don't snowboard, but my cousin from Japan who is always visiting the U.S to snowboard, is an expert in it. At the beginning of this summer, he visited Oregon to do it. I know Oregon is the good location to do it. So many TIUA students do it in long vacation.
3.The bread you saw at Salem Center is "pretzel", I think. I dont know name of the shop. Pretzel is kind of popular at Salem Center. By the way, I think you probably can eat it also in Japan. Some bakeries will have pretzel.
