The Kawagoe-Salem Friendship Society is a Kawagoe grassroots group formed in the fall of 1986 to promote citizen-to-citizen exchange between the two sister cities Kawagoe, Saitama, Japan, and Salem, Oregon, U.S.A. Activities have subsequently broadened to include exchange with visitors, students, residents, and others from overseas in Kawagoe.
Between 1981 and 1997, the Friendship Society led 15 homestay tours to Salem. The March 1996 homestay tour travelog is online.
