Today six TIU students and Prof. Barry Duell flew from Tokyo to Portland,
Oregon, USA. We were met by Ms. Barby Dressler, TIUA's University Relations
Officer, and Ms. Amy Baty, TIUA Dormitary Resident Director, who drove us
to TIUA.
After lunch, Amy gave the students a tour of TIUA, Willamette University,
and the nearby Salem downtown shopping area.
An informal opening ceremony was arranged by Prof. Wayne Gregory whose students
volunteered to be mentors for Prof. Duell's students. The structure was
outlined how the TIU students would shadow their TIUA mentors.

and where they will meet each day to go to classes together.
From 5 PM, an informal dinner in the TIUA cafeteria
was held for the TIU students to meet their host families. Host families
and their guests then went home together.

On Monday morning, we arrived at Portland International Airport, and we
came to TIUA by car. In the afternoon, we inspected TIUA and Willamette
University. And then, we went shopping downtown with Amy. We met our TIUA
partner at 4, and we met our host-family at 5. We went home separately.

I arrived in America. I was impressed so much seeing this land from the
plane. I met my host family. They are such nice people. I'd like to be good
friends with them. I'm very happy to be invited into a nice family. I'd
like to spend nice days with them.

I reached Salem, Oregon in America. I was glad to go on my first trip to
the U.S.A and to take a plane for the first time. Then I met my host family.
They have two daughters Nicol and Crystal.
