TIUA tour:

Sept. 10, 1996 (Tue)

TIU students arrived early in the morning at TIUA overflowing with talk on what each had done with their host families since the previous evening. At appointed times and places, TIU students and their TIUA mentors went off to classes.

From 4 PM, a meeting was held with the TIU/TIUA student pairs to outline how a student-produced record of the experience would be created for display on the Internet. Each TIU student was assigned to write at least two sentences per day about their experiences from arrival Sept. 9 to Sept. 17, the project material deadline. Student material was to be gathered only till this date since it would take Prof. Duell some time to compile it for Internet presentation.

At 5 PM, students returned home with their host families.

TIU Student Diary Entries

Misato Mochizuki (junior):
After lunch, I played basketball with Willamette University students and Tokyo International University of America students. I have been playing it in Japan since I was in elementary school. Now I am playing it in the circle of Toyko International University. I was surprised that Willamette students were very tall and powerful. So when we played the games, I didn't know what to do. But I had a very good time.

Jun Tajima (junior)
I studied a mystery in today's class. It was difficult for me to solve that case, but it was so interesting.

Junko Hatakeyama (sophomore)
I attended classes with my partner from 8. I couldn't understand English very much, but I enjoyed the classes because the themes were interesting.

Fusako Sawada (sophomore)
I attended the Information Science class in the morning. The class started at 8:00. It was very early for me.
I ate pizza for dinner. There was so much pizza that I couldn't finish it all.

Kaori Suwa (freshman)
I was so excited because I began my host family stay.
This is the first time to play lacrosse. It was different than what I expected.

Yuko Watanabe (freshman)
Today I arrived at TIUA at 8:00 a.m., but my partner's English class started from 11.am. Before class I went downtown with Kaori and Misato. After that I participated in English class. But I slept. Next time I'll do my best.
