TIU Mock Class 6 of 6: Japanese Pop-Culture and Nation Branding

The International Relations major helps future leaders develop their understanding of world issues, cultures, and societies. In this sample class experience, participants will get an introduction to Japanese anime and popular culture, and gain insight into how the country uses media to shape its global image and strengthen its "soft power."

< About the Instructor >
Dr. Barbara Greene is an Associate Professor of International Relations. She holds a Ph.D. in East Asian Studies from the University of Arizona and a Master of Arts in War Studies from King's College, London. Sumire Stanislawski is an Associate Professor of Business Economics. She completed her doctoral program in Marketing Theory and obtained a Master of Arts in Labor Economics at Waseda University. She also holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing / Management and Organization Studies from Simon Fraser University. Dr. Nora Sharkasi (Associate Professor, Digital Business & Innovation) holds a Ph.D. from the School of Systems and Information Engineering at the University of Tsukuba, Japan and a Master of Science in Analysis, Design, and Management of Information Systems from the London School of Economics (LSE) with distinction. Her teaching and research interests include Digital Marketing and Communication, E-Commerce, Big Data and Analytics, Virtual and Augmented Reality in Business, Blockchain, and more.
