Career Experience Practicum Course with JICA โ€“ Students Propose Sustainable Business Ideas in Final Presentations

TIU E-Track students gave their final presentations in the Tokyo International University (TIU) Career Experience Practicum (CEP), a course taught collaboratively with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), to finish the fall 2025 semester.

Students in this course developed Public-Private Partnership (PPP) project proposals aimed at resolving international social issues and achieving sustainable business outcomes.

Students selected a target country from the OECDโ€™s Official Development Assistance (ODA) recipient list and proposed a PPP business idea to address a social issue in that country. Through this project, students showcased their innovative ideas that demonstrated analytical depth, creativity, and feasibility.

Six groups presented their proposals addressing pressing social issues across diverse regions, from Asia to Africa. In every proposal, feasibility and financial sustainability were key focal points. The judges from JICA commended the students for their high-quality work and for their strong commitment to their projects.

One judge commented, โ€œBeyond the technical feasibility of the proposals, the analytical depth of each group was remarkable. The teamwork displayed in uniting diverse opinions toward a common goal was truly impressive.โ€

The judgesโ€™ closing message underscored the essence of the CEP course.
โ€œWhat mattered most in this project was your continued effort to think independently about what the real problems are in todayโ€™s complex world. Please carry this mindset with you and continue to be agents of social change.โ€

The CEP course with JICA empowered students to develop key competencies essential for careers in international cooperation and other fields โ€“ the ability to identify issues, design multifaceted solutions, and ensure business sustainability โ€“ all within the context of practical teamwork.
Tokyo International University will continue to strengthen partnerships with organizations such as JICA and foster globally minded individuals capable of contributing to the international community.
