"Studying economics at TIU gave me a strong foundation"
Anh from Vietnam
Ph.D. Program, Graduate School of Economics
Graduated from Master Program, Graduate School of Economics; and Business and Economics Course of TIU
Studying economics at TIU gave me a strong foundation for understanding how markets, institutions, and international cooperation shape development. The program’s diverse community also taught me to listen across cultures and turn different perspectives into practical solutions. Today, as a Programme Coordinator at the ASEAN-Japan Centre, I develop initiatives that promote sustainable, inclusive trade and investment. TIU helped me connect economic knowledge with real-world regional cooperation and impact.
"Different perspectives helped broaden my understanding"
Krishtee from Mauritius
Master Program, Graduate School of Economics
Choosing the Graduate School of Economics at TIU has been a deeply enriching experience. The international environment and joint workshops provided opportunities to exchange research ideas and engage in stimulating discussions with professors from across the department, whose different perspectives helped broaden my understanding. This shaped the way I continue to conduct independent research and has also been valuable in my current role in Asset and Liability Management, particularly in understanding how global economic developments influence financial markets. I am particularly grateful to Prof. Shiozawa, Prof. Amponsah and Prof. Watanabe for their consistent support, and guidance throughout my time at TIU.
"I gained a broader international perspective"
Adrian from Germany
Master Program, Graduate School of Economics
I chose TIU’s Graduate School of Economics because of its international environment and the opportunity to study economics in Tokyo. My time at TIU was especially valuable for developing my analytical skills and gaining a broader international perspective. I am now working in compliance in the financial sector in Germany, where the knowledge and critical thinking skills gained at TIU continue to benefit me in my professional career.
"Supportive community and collaborative environment"
Sanny from Myanmar
Master Program, Graduate School of Economics
What I value most about my time at TIU is how it changed the way I approach learning. I entered the Graduate School of Economics to deepen my knowledge of economics, but I gained much more through the supportive community and collaborative environment. I am now a lecturer at a private college in Myanmar, teaching Entrepreneurship, Business Communication, and Research Writing. The research, analytical, communication, and collaborative skills I gained at TIU continue to shape my teaching and academic development.
"I acquired knowledge and independent research skills at TIU "
Tom from China
Master Program, Graduate School of Economics
I chose TIU for its international, English-taught academic environment and convenient location. One of the most valuable aspects of my experience was the consistent academic support I received throughout my two years of study. My supervisor provided continuous guidance during the development of my master’s thesis, while the small class sizes allowed for close interaction with faculty members. I am now continuing my studies in economics, and the knowledge and independent research skills I acquired at TIU have provided a solid foundation for my continued academic development.
