As the health of our students, both new and returning, is of the utmost importance to us, Tokyo International University is closely monitoring developments regarding the novel coronavirus outbreak. At this time, no cases of the virus have been identified at TIU.
Actions to Take for Your Well-Being
To all students, faculty, and staff, if you have any of the following symptoms, please contact a coronavirus consultation center immediately and follow their instructions:
โ Cold symptoms and/or a fever above 37.5ยฐC, lasting for 4 days or more (even when on fever medication).
โ Fatigue and/or shortness of breath.
If the consultation center believes you have the coronavirus, they will inform you of medical facilities that are able to treat you. Please wear a mask and make your way to the medical facility immediately. Avoid using public transport when possible. You may be instructed to go to a hospital for quarantine for your safety and the safety of those around you.

If you are diagnosed with the novel coronavirus or suspect you are infected, please contact the International Exchange Office immediately at: etrack-student@tiu.ac.jp
Spring Semester 2020
In regards to the spring semester at TIU, courses are set to begin on Thursday, April 2nd as usual.
The move-in date for E-Track students living into the dormitories is still March 18th through 20th.
These dates are subject to change based on how the situation develops.
Notices for Students
New students arriving in Japan, and current students coming back from their home countries should submit the following documents to the International Exchange Office (the forms are available for download on your My TIU Page and POTI):
โ Daily body temperature measurements for the 14 days prior to arriving in Japan
โ Travel history for the 14 days prior to arriving in Japan
If you have any of the following symptoms when arriving to Japan, consult with a health center near your residence, get examined at a medical institution, and receive a doctor’s official clearance before coming to campus. TIU recommends making an appointment before going to a medical institution.
โ Cold symptoms and/or a fever above 37.5ยฐC
โ Runny nose, cough, sore throat, or other respiratory difficulties.
Following the guidelines from the Japan Ministry of Foreign affairs, please do not travel to Hubei Province or Zhejiang Province in the People’s Republic of China or Daegu City or Cheongdo County in North Gyeongsang Province in South Korea for at least 14 days before arriving in Japan, and please do not come into close contact with anyone who went to those provinces in the past 14 days.
The Government of Japan has restricted entry to Japan in the following cases. Should these restrictions not be lifted before March 13th, those students will be required to take a leave of absence for the 2020 spring semester:
โ Foreign students who have traveled to Hubei Province or Zhejiang Province in the People’s Republic of China within 14 days of arriving to Japan.
โ Students with a passport from the People’s Republic of China issued by Hubei Province or Zhejiang Province.
โ Foreign students who have traveled to Daegu City or Cheongdo County in North Gyeongsang Province in South Korea within 14 days of arriving to Japan.
