To all incoming and current E-Track students of Tokyo International University,
Thank you all for your patience as the details for the 2020 spring semester were decided. Our students’ health and safety is our top priority, and thus we are taking the following actions.
■ TIU E-track 2020 spring semester start date has officially been moved from Thursday, April 2nd to Monday April 20th.
■ In order to prevent the further spread of COVID-19, classes beginning on Monday, April 20th are set to be conducted online. The details for online classes will be announced in a few days.
■ Following the directives of the Japanese government, students from or who have visited certain countries or areas are not allowed to enter Japan (see note at the end). If these students would like, they are allowed to take a leave of absence this semester. Please submit the application form for a leave of absence to the International Exchange Office by Friday, April 24th at: etrack-student@tiu.ac.jp
【For Incoming Students Moving into the Dormitories】
■ As previously communicated to students, there will still be a move-in period for TIU’s dormitories from Wednesday, March 18th through Friday, March 20th. However, in alignment with the new start date of classes, there will also be a second move-in period. Please check your My TIU Page for details on the second move-in period, which will be held on Wednesday, April 15th and Thursday, April 16th
(Welcome service will be held during both move-in periods)
■ The orientation for incoming students is still set to be held from Monday, March 23th until Wednesday, April 1st. It will be held mostly online, however there will still be some in-person sessions.
■ The in-person orientation sessions for moving into the dormitories during the second move-in period will be held on Friday, April 17th. However, we still expect these students to participate in the online orientation sessions held from March 23rd.
【For Incoming Students Not Moving into the Dormitories】
■ For any incoming students not moving into the dormitories, please participate in the online orientation sessions beginning on March 23 (all orientation videos will be available for viewing from April 1st).
【For Current Students】
■ The course registration period has changed. Please check POTI for details.
■ The details regarding online classes will be announced in the coming days.
＜Note on Countries/Regions with Restricted Travel to Japan＞
Students who meet any of the conditions below will not be able to enter Japan for the time being because the Ministry of Justice has issued a landing refusal as of March 13th, 2020
■ Foreigners who have Chinese passports issued by Hubei Province or Zhejiang Province in the People’s Republic of China.
■ Any non-Japanese passport holders who boarded on the MS Westerdam and disembarked at Sihanoukville, Cambodia.
■ Foreigners who have stayed in following cities/provinces/regions within 14 days prior to your arrival in Japan:
○ The People’s Republic of China：Hubei Province, Zhejiang Province
○ Republic of Korea: Daegu-guangyeok-si, or Gyeongsan-si, Andong-si, Yeongcheon-si, Cheondo-gun, Chilgok-gun, Uiseong-gun, Seongju-gun, Gunwi-gun in Gyeongsangbuk-do
○ Islamic Republic of Iran: Qom Province, Tehran Province, Gilan Province, Manzandaran Province, Isfahan Province, Alborz Province, Markazi Province, Qazvin Province, Semnan Province, Golestan Province, Lorestan Province
○ Italian Republic: Lombardy Region, Veneto Region, Emilia-Romagna Region, Marche Region, Piedmont Region
○ The Republic of San Marino
