ใVisit from His Excellency Mr. Heri Akhmadi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Indonesia to Japanใ
On Wednesday, November 30, Tokyo International University welcomed His Excellency Mr. Heri Akhmadi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Indonesia to Japan. During the meeting, TIU Chancellor & Chair Nobuyasu Kurata expressed his condolences to the victims of the tragic earthquake that struck Indonesia last month. They then discussed the presence and acceptance of Indonesian students at the university. His Excellency then introduced to us the rich, diverse culture of Indonesia and described how the government is supporting students through scholarship programs. With these exciting programs in place, we hope to see even more Indonesian students here at TIU.
After their exchange, His Excellency provided a special lecture to students on the theme of ‘Indonesia-Japan-Indo Pacific Forum: Trilateral Development and Cultural Exchange Opportunities’. The session concluded with a traditional dance performance by an Indonesian TIU E-Track student and a powerful performance of the angklung, a traditional Indonesian instrument, by about 30 students from the School of the Republic of Indonesia Tokyo.
At the G20 meeting held in Bali in November of this year, participants discussed initiatives to realize a free and open Indo-Pacific region, with Indonesia and Japan becoming increasingly vital actors in achieving this goal. His Excellency’s special lecture helped facilitate mutual understanding among the students and increased awareness of the need for trust and development between the two nations.
This visit encourages TIU to further foster a relationship of trust between our university and Indonesia, as well as to nurture students who will actively contribute to both the international community and to their home countries.
